The Better Halves are an Austin, TX-based husband-wife musical duo. They met when Jimmy Joe was booking music at the local farmers market, and Chrissie was looking for a gig that included fresh veggies. A decade later, they have just released their third CD, a really fun and creative childrens CD called Playing in the Dirt (under their alter ego, Mr. Bus Driver Man Sir and Her). They have toured the west coast 6 years consecutively and Mexico for 3 years. They always entertain audiences with a song that they learned to play with four hands on one guitar! Their music inspires and amuses, with clever lyrics and outstanding instrumentation (usually on two guitars). Their onstage banter is reminiscent of Johnny Cash and June Carter.
They each have some fine accomplishments, including Jimmy Joe having one of his songs played on NPRs Car Talk, and Chrissie performing live on Garrison Keillors A Prairie Home Companion. Jimmy Joe is also a school bus driver, which is where many of their childrens songs begin their existence. Chrissie is an acupuncturist who believes in many forms of healing, including the power of music to soothe and bring joy. Together, they continue writing Texas swing, bluegrass, and Brazilian flavored tunes, sing sweet vocal harmonies, and tour from Alaska to Mexico, with one of their favorite stops along the way being Artichoke Music in Portland!
