Advocating for Health Care Consumers in Uncertain Times
1.00 Ethics - 1.75 Law & Legal - 3.50 Other CLE Credits
This year has been one of great uncertainty, dominated by threats at the federal level to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, cut Medicaid, restrict access to essential health services, and target immigrants. Please join us for our annual CLE Seminar - a unique opportunity to hear about the impact of these threats and the continuing work to defend and improve the healthcare system in Washington State. The day will include a session on public benefits available to Washington immigrants, and ethical considerations when working with clients with diminished capacity or other barriers.
This seminar offers you up-to-date information on the status of federal legislation and administrative actions as they affect Washington State residents and attorneys who advise and represent them. Experienced practitioners, government agency staff, and public policy professionals discuss highlights of statutory and regulatory changes, programs and the status of their implementation in Washington, as well as advocacy approaches, including:
<> Affordable Care Act: Unfinished Business and New Directions <> Value Based Purchasing initiatives: Challenges and Opportunities <> Health Care Rights and Protections under the New ACA Section 1557 Regulations <> Hot Topics in Medicaid Managed Care: Final Managed Care Rules and Integrating Behavioral Health <> Shaping Washington's "Accountable Communities of Health:" Potential Successes and Pitfalls
