The Village Playhouse Presents The Glitter Girls
The Village Playhouse presents the world premiere of The Glitter Girls, a new play by award winning playwright and novelist Mark Dunn.
THE GLITTER GIRLS is a (mostly) female southern comedy in the tradition of BELLES and FIVE TELLERS DANCING IN THE RAIN, with the kind of strong ensemble dynamic reminiscent of several of Mark Dunns other plays for medium to large casts. The play revolves around an ad hoc meeting of a north Georgia womens social club called The Glitter Girls, convened by its richest member one Trudy Tromaine who is supposedly at deaths door and wishing to bequeath some of her millions to one lucky Sister of the Gleam and Sparkle. The hitch is that its the members themselves who must decide to whom to award the small fortune (with hopes that the Glitter Girl they select will see it in her heart to share the money with the rest of her sisters.). The play can be economically described as STEEL MAGNOLIAS meets SURVIVOR, with a big dose of quirky Mark Dunn humor thrown in for good measure.
About The Village Playhouse: The Village Playhouse is the resident theater company at Inspiration Studios in West Allis, Wisconsin. Glitter Girls is the first play of the theater's 39th season. Themed "Labor Of Love", this season is focused on passion projects, with everyone involved donating their time and talents.

He is the author of the popular southern comedies BELLES, its sequel BELLES: THE REUNION, FIVE TELLERS DANCING IN THE RAIN, CABIN FEVER: A TEXAS TRAGICOMEDY and the large cast comedy-drama A DELIGHTFUL QUARANTINE. Mark is also the author of several books, including the award-winning ELLA MINNOW PEA. He maintains ties with a number of community theaters throughout the country and has served as adjudicator for several regional theater competitions. After a number of years in New York, this Memphis and northern Mississippi native now makes his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico with his wife Mary, where he writes plays and books and reviews local theater productions.
