THE CRUCIBLE by Arthur Miller
Spring, 1692. In the black of night, a Salem village priest discovers his slave and several young girls dancing around a fire in the woods. When his daughter exhibits strange catatonic symptoms the following morning, murmurings of witchcraft begin to spread among the villagers. Suspicion, greed, lust, jealousy and seething resentments smolder and ultimately ignite, engulfing the village and leaving 19 people dead in its wake.
Following its critically-acclaimed 2015 production of Death of a Salesman, Ironweed Productions is thrilled to return to the world of Arthur Miller with a production of his haunting and electrifying masterpiece, The Crucible. Directed by Ironweed Artistic Director Scott Harrison, this production promises a rollercoaster ride full of razor sharp suspense, wrenching twists and shocking revelations. It opens on Halloween weekend, October 26th, and runs through November 12th at El Museo Cultural.
Based on true events, The Crucible is a powerful reminder of the devastating consequences when fear takes root in a community.
The production features an ensemble spanning three generations, including many talented actors from past Ironweed productions: Todd Anderson (American Buffalo, Death of a Salesman), Kate Kita (Buried Child), Danielle Reddick (Doubt: a Parable, Good People), Tara Khozein (Creating a Scene in a Restaurant), Campbell Martin (Our Town, Death of a Salesman), Nicholas Ballas (Death of a Salesman), Dan Friedman (Fool for Love), Jody Hegarty Durham (Death of a Salesman), Larry Glaister (Our Town, Buried Child, Death of a Salesman), Dylan Marshall (Rabbit Hole, The Trip to Bountiful), and Jonathan Harrell (Death of a Salesman), as well as several members of the creative design and production team. It also features a number of artists new to Ironweed but familiar to Santa Fe, including actors Hania Stocker, Catherine Donavon, Robyn Reede, Steven Berrier and Ambrose Ferber. And Ironweed's mentorship of young, emerging theatre artists continues with four ensemble members being cast from the New Mexico School for the Arts.
