Wen-Do Women's Self-Defence Workshop in Montreal
Tap into your knowing. Your awareness. Your power.
As women and girls, we have been told that we are not strong enough, fast enough or loud enough to escape danger. We have been told that violence that happens to us is our fault.
Wen-Do is different than any other self-defence program you have seen. It is all about you, your body, your abilities and your power. It is about meeting you where you and your body are, exactly as they are, today. It is powerful self-defence designed to be used against physically larger and stronger attackers.
Wen-Do course content is accessible to all people and bodies. This location is partially accessible; there are small curbs to enter the main workshop space, and there is a flight of stairs leading to the bathroom. There are businesses nearby that have wheelchair-accessible washrooms. This said, wheelchair users are welcome. We break stereotypes in this space. I will be in contact with people ahead of time to see if there are any accessibility pieces that you want me to be aware of.
Our format includes discussion, storytelling, physical technique instruction and practice. Through intentional delivery, we get to witness ourselves and each other in our power.
Wen-Do is survivor-centered, empowerment-based, accessible and intersectional self-defence. All women are welcome. This of course includes transwomen. Together, we will strive to create a nonjudgmental space that respects each others' choices and lifestyles.
Now is the best time to improve your self-defence skills.
Class time is Sunday October 15th, 9:30am-5pm. The location will be given to attendees upon registration.
