Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (winner of an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, multiple Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and the Laurence Olivier Award.) DIRECTED BY: Albert Alarr (Crown City's acclaimed "A Prayer for My Daughter" Director of "Venice, the Series," "Days of our Lives," "The Young and the Restless," and "Port Charles," as well as several shows for his own theater company MUDLUSCIOUS.) THE STORY: The plot revolves around Bobby (a single man unable to commit to a steady relationship, let alone marriage), five married couples who are his best friends, and three girlfriends. Company is a concept musical composed of short vignettes linked by a celebration for Bobby's 35th birthday. It was among the first musicals to deal with adult themes and relationships.
