Kate Schrock and Glen DaCosta
In 1994, pianist and songwriter Kate Schrock released her first record, Refuge, as a DIY artist, (long before DIY was fashionable), and changed the landscape of her native Portland, Maine city.
Evolving as a sagacious lyricist and intense solo performer, she eventually moved to Chicago, IL where she wrote her follow-up Shunyata, a dark and insightful journey through loves illusion, featuring her guitarist brother, Nate Schrock (of The Coming Grass) in 1998, during a stint in LA, Kate signed to Famous Music Publishing, and embarked upon an epoch era of touring in support of artists such as Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones, Wayne Kramer of MC5, BoDeans and Stephen Stills.
In early 2001, Kate came full circle back to the Northeast US, retaining her fierce independence as owner of her own Kakelane music label, and began collaborations with international artists such as Canadian Dave Rave (of Teenage Head) and Glen DaCosta (of Bob Marley and The Wailers).
20 years, and 7 records after her initial release, Kate landed in Nashville in 2012 at the legendary RCA Studio A where she recorded kör, an 11 song intimate retrospective which includes a passionate rendition of Marleys waiting in vain. in 2014 kör will be released and Kate will be performing many dates, both solo and with DaCosta.
