"Samuel Capricornus: The Jubilus Bernhardi Collection" CD Release Event
CD Release Event of the first-ever recording of the Jubilus Bernhardi Collection of seventeenth-century Lutheran sacred concerti by Samuel Capricornus. Proudly presented by The Bach Choir of Holy Trinity and Acronym, this evening of music sets the stage for Capricornus's music. Selected concerti from the CD will be performed alongside sound bites of the music of Orlando Gibbons and Claudio Monteverdi. Donald Meineke, Cantor at Holy Trinity and Director of The Bach Choir, will provide historical context through music and commentary for the performed selections. In addition to the significance of this CD Release Event, this concert is the first event of the 50th Season of Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity. Celebrate the launch of Bach Vespers's 50th Anniversary Season as well as the path-breaking CD Release of "Samuel Capricornus: The Jubilus Bernhardi Collection." A reception will be provided following the musical event.

THE BACH CHOIR OF HOLY TRINITY The Bach Choir is celebrating its 50th year this season as part of the Bach Vespers program at Holy Trinity, on Central Park West and 65th Street, known as the city's "temple to Bach" (The New York Times). Directed by Cantor Donald Meineke, The Bach Choir is praised for its vibrant, stylish sound and exceptional musicianship. The ensemble consists of the finest singers throughout the New York metro area, specializing in historical performance practices ranging from the 15th to 18th centuries.
The choir is featured in approximately twenty vespers performances each season in collaboration with period instrumentalists to bring the music of Lutheran composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach to life in devotional services. Beginning in 1968, the Bach Choir has presented the sacred choral works of North German Renaissance and Baroque composers, namely Johann Sebastian Bach and his predecessors and contemporaries, within the historic office of Vespers every Sunday evening. ACRONYM ACRONYM, an outstanding young early-music string ensemble (The New Yorker), is dedicated to giving modern premieres of the wild instrumental music of the seventeenth century. Since 2014, the band has released six critically acclaimed recordingsincluding discs devoted to composers Johann Pezel, Antonio Bertali, Giovanni Valentini, and Johann Rosenmüllerand they anticipate three new releases in the 2017-2018 season.
