Appalachian Climate Talks - ACT (Second Briefing)
Tuesday, October 3, 2017, 7:00-9:00 PM Stuart Scott, an internationally recognized speaker on climate change and ecology, will make a presentation based upon research and expeditionary observations of changes in components of Earth's ecosphere that will come to dominate our lives in the next few decades. This is not your standard narrative, as most of his material is absent from the mainstream media
This second of two briefings will run from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, with the first, earlier briefing from 5:00-7:00 pm, to accommodate the many people who have expressed interest. Both free briefings will each take place at the IG Greer Auditorium at Appalachian State University, 401 Academy Street, Boone, NC on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. If we need to move the event to a larger venue, we will notify everyone who registers here with an email address. PLEASE do not register for more than 2 tickets. We need contacts for most/all people who attend for follow up.
We will cover recent scientific observations of planetary changes, and conservative projections of the substantial and accelerating impacts anticipated on both the climate and life in general in all parts of the United States. Public citizens, policy makers, business leaders, banks and academic institutions all need to understand the coming changes and what they portend. This is an effort to share long term emergency-preparedness information.
You may be unprepared for what you will hear and see. The under-reported aspects of the causes, effects, risks and timing of climate change may significantly affect your worldview. Parental discretion is advised as young members of the audience may find the information very unsettling.
Our situation can be mitigated to some extent if we take the warnings seriously. And we will fare much better personally and collectively if we understand what to expect, and what long term preparedness for climate change means.
Since time is short until October 3rd, as a service to your colleagues, family and friends, please widely circulate the email you received and its attachments, post in high visibility areas at work and in public spaces, social media, and place on email lists to which you subscribe.
Sincere thanks
