Maria Dunn and Shannon Johnson at EFC/Edinburgh Folk Club
Maria Dunn and Shannon Johnson make a welcome second visit to Edinburgh FC on Wednesday 18 October. Their first visit in November 2015 turned heads more than a bit!
Maria was born in Scotland and as a youngster moved to Ontario with her parents. She is a singer, guitarist, accordionist and plays the whistle whose playing can meld folk, bluegrass and country. Added to that, Maria has been a Juno-nominated songwriter through her formidable songwriting talent. In her writing she melds North American roots music with her Scottish-Irish heritage, to sing about the resilience and grace of the ordinary people, past and present, the working folk who make the world go round. Maria now lives in Edmonton, Alberta and has released five CDs.
Shannon Johnson began studying violin aged three and was playing professionally at eight! Since then, she has earned numerous fiddling awards at national (Canada) and international level. Shannon is also an excellent singer. All five of Maria's CDs were produced by Shannon who is one of Canadas most-in-demand record producers.
