23rd Forest Storytelling Festival
Join us at this friendly small storytelling festival. Featuring professional tellers: Elizabeth Ellis, Antonia Rocha, Alton Chung, Rev. Robert Jones, Jennifer Ferris.
There are storytelling concerts from the featured tellers, opening stories from local tellers, workshops with the featured tellers, and open mike story swaps.
Also -- a silent auction, a store with storytelling resources (books, recordings, puppets and other delightful items), raffle for a hand-made quilt and other prizes.
All in the beautiful and cozy Little Theater and adjacent student union building of Peninsula College.

Elizabeth Ellis As a storyteller, Elizabeth Ellis doesn't mince words. Filled with hilarious and poignant honesty, her stories deliver down-home wisdom, southern style. Hers is a voice that finds the heart and the funny bone, riveting audiences of every age wherever she goes. Elizabeth has received both the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Circle of Excellence Award from the National Storytelling Network. Antonio Rocha (pronounced Husha) is a native of Brazil. His solo shows of stories and mime have been performed from Singapore to Hawaii and many places in between including 16 countries on 6 continents. His performance exceeded all expectations, delighting the smallest child to the very oldest adult. ... Antonio was captivating as well as educational, humorous and tender, serious and hilarious.
Alton Chung performs at storytelling festivals internationally, sharing stories and legends from Hawaii and spreading aloha. He also tells Asian folk tales from all around the Pacific Rim and stories of the Japanese American Experience of WWII. In 2005, Alton was awarded the first J.J. Reneaux Emerging Artist Award by the National Storytelling Network.
Rev. Robert Jones is a blues guitarist and nationally known storyteller from Detroit. His stories combine elements of music and humor, emotion, fact and fiction. He tells personal and family stories, and stories from the lives of blues and gospel singers. Many of his tales center around struggles of race and faith.
Jennifer Ferris uses the draw of humor and just the right word to bring audiences of all ages tales of myth, magic and transformation. Her own family stories strike a common theme that has prompted listeners to demand that she tell the story of their families!
Pat Peterson is the emcee par excellence, bringing pure joy to the audience's storytelling experience as she cajoles and guides the performers to bring forth their finest work. An accomplished actress and storyteller, Pat sets the stage with grace, warmth and her occasionally naughty humor.
