SPECIAL PRODUCTION TO SUPPORT INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS TO FIGHT PARKINSON'S DISEASE

GOLDEN BOY by Clifford Odets, Directed by Aaron Latham and Graydon Gund

All proceeds will support stoPD (Support and Training to Overcome Parkinsons Disease)

StoPD is a not-for-profit organization operating in New York City and Los Angeles. Founded in 2014, stoPD provides highly effective physical training and support through its boxing programs for people with Parkinson's Disease.

Your donation, with your ticket purchase, will help to fund stoPD's innovative new theater program, specifically designed to help people with Parkinson's improve their voice, short-term memory, spacial awareness, and communication skills.  Your donation is very much appreciated and is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.


ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
StoPD (Support and Training to Overcome Parkinson's Disease), in collaboration with Shetler Studios and GK Arts Center, presents Golden Boy, written by Clifford Odets and directed by Aaron Latham and Graydon Gund.

Performed at GK Arts Center, the renowned Off-Broadway theater located in the heart of DUMBO, Brooklyn, this play will entertain you and move you.

Most importantly, this production will be a testament to the strength of the Parkinson's community as the cast features professional actors who are living with Parkinson's disease in two of the major roles. In addition, many of our production and creative team members have Parkinson's, and have devoted themselves to creating this unique and memorable production.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR THIS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. TICKET BUYERS AT THE VIP LEVEL FOR EITHER THE OPENING NIGHT OR CLOSING MATINEE PERFORMANCE RECEIVE RECOGNITION IN THE PROGRAM, VIP SEATING, AN INVITATION TO BEHIND THE SCENES DRESS REHEARSAL AND AN AFTER PARTY WITH THE CAST IN THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

For $75, $100, and $250 tickets, $30 is applied to the ticket price.  The remaining money is considered a donation to stoPD.

GOLDEN BOY PLOT
The play focuses on Joe Bonaparte, whose dream of becoming a violinist could become a reality when prizefight promoter Roxy Gottlieb offer to sponsor him as a boxer. He finds himself torn between the lure of big money and the distinct possibility of injuring his hands, thereby destroying his musical career. Among those offering him advice are his Italian immigrant father, his manager Tom Moody, and Tom's girlfriend Lorna Moon, with whom Joe falls in love.
