Event
From Fairy Tales to Elder Tales -- Berta Parrish
Tuesday October 3, 2017 10am - 12 noon
United Methodist Church, San Luis Obispo
$5 for LLCC members, $10 for non-members
This course combines the power of storytelling and the magic of fairy tales with the wisdom of the archetypal elder.
Elder tales, a special category of fairy tales that depict the sages journey, contain elements of humor, suspense, drama, and inspiration. More importantly, they are also mythic stories of resourceful, independent, creative, and respected older protagonists who provide better models for our grandchildren as well as psychological perspective for us.
After listening to a lecture by Berta Parrish that will help you identify common elements and symbols, participants will analyze and interpret several short tales in collaborative small groups.
Berta Parrish, Ed.D., certified Conscious Aging Facilitator and retired college professor, has a strong background in Jungian and Archetypal Psychology. In addition to writing, she conducts Dream Questing, Elder Tales, Practical Jung, and Conscious Aging workshops. Her book Wise Womans Way: A Guide to Growing Older with Purpose and Passion offers the initiatory experience that our culture needs, yet lacks.
