Megan Lynch Chowning and Adam Hurt
Redding native Megan Lynch Chowning is a seven time National Fiddle Champion, touring musician, recording artist, teacher, singer, and flatfooter. Active in her youth with the California Old Time Fiddlers Association, she won her first National Fiddlers championship at Weiser when she was 8 years old, and went on to teach fiddle at Bernies Guitar at the age of 14. Since relocating to Nashville, shes toured with many of the brightest names in bluegrass and country music, Including Dale Ann Bradley, Roland White, Larry Cordle, Jim Hurst, Chris Jones, 3 Fox Drive, Due West and Chris Stuart. She recently finished a four year touring stint with legendary country music artists Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan. Megan has fiddled and sung on more than two dozen CDs, including 2015s Inside Out, with Adam Hurt. In addition, she is also a renowned teacher who has taught at virtually every major bluegrass and fiddle camp in North America, including the British Columbia Bluegrass Workshop. Shes also the director of her own FiddleStar Youth and Adult Fiddle Camps.

Megan last played for the Oaksong Music Society in a sold-out show in 2010 with California banjo master Bill Evans. After seven years, she returns with clawhammer banjo icon Adam Hurt.

Adam Hurt is one of the most exacting and musically-satisfying clawhammer banjo players in the world today. A highly versatile musician, his playing appeals to fans of both traditional old-time string music and more modern musical genres as well. A respected performer and teacher of traditional music, Adam Hurt has played at the Kennedy Center and conducted banjo workshops at many venues around the country and abroad. Adam has placed in or won most of the major old-time banjo competitions including Clifftop, Mount Airy, and Galax, and won the state banjo championships of Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio, as well as the state fiddle championships of Virginia and Maryland.

It was perhaps inevitable that Megan Lynch Chowning and Adam Hurt would find each other. While Megan is a master of bluegrass and Texas style and Adam is known mostly for his innovative interpretations of old time music, as scholars of their instruments and traditional music in general, together they are making great music together- old sounds in new songs, and new sounds in old ones. It was inevitable.
