King Corn (2007) Directed by Aaron Woolf Unrated Runtime: 1:28
Ahead of the holiday feast, we look to highlight the issues of healthy eating with Novembers featured film King Corn. The film follows college friends Ian Cheney and Curtis Ellis as they move from Boston to Greene, Iowa to grow and farm an acre of corn. In the process, Cheney and Ellis examine the trend of increased corn production and its effects on American society, with the realization that most foods contain corn in some form, namely high fructose corn syrup, an ingredient found in many cheap food products, including fast food.
The Washington Post said that the documentary ought to be a required viewing by anyone planning to visit a supermarket, fast-food joint, or their own refrigerator.
Screening Date: Sunday, November 19 / 3:00pm-5:00pm Themes: Healthy Eating
