Enter the world of Little Earthquakes, the Tori Amos album released in 1992, known for its raw emotion, evocative whimsy, and sonic beauty. The songs are rendered here through the Queer lens of performance artist Justin Leaf, with George Maurer on piano, Jenny Case on bass guitar, and Dustin Jensen on drums.
Justin Leaf is a performance artist living in Minneapolis. Since 2006, he has created and performed more than twenty original cabaret shows, weaving together song, dance, and story, often through the persona of Mistress Ginger. Little Earthquakes LIVE marks the first show in which Justin takes the stage as himself since the 2014-15 series Tuesday Night Confessions. A graduate of The Juilliard School, Justin has received the 2001 Zaraspe Prize for Outstanding Choreography, a 2007 Minnesota SAGE Award for Best Performance, a 2009 McKnight Fellowship for Dancers, and a 2014 Next Step Fund Grant for vocal performance. George Maurer is best known for his work as a performer, arranger, music director and composer talents that have taken him all over the world. He has performed with Eric Clapton, shared the stage with Bruno Mars, and has composed for renowned musicians from Buddy Hollys Crickets to symphonies across the U.S. George was awarded a McKnight Composers Fellowship in 2014 and currently music directs the Tony and Grammy-awarded original cast of Broadway's Jersey Boys in The Midtown Men. In the midst of his always-full itinerary of jazz, pop and big band performances, George is working on Empire Builder, a modern musical telling the story of a Native American man who has been called back to the reservation by his dying grandfather and his transformative journey by train. Jenny Case is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and teacher. She currently plays bass with the Twin Cities punk-pop staples, The Flamin' Oh's, and performs with many other bands and productions in the area. Additionally, she is the Founder/Executive Director of She Rock She Rock, a Minnesota-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls, women, and gender non-binary and trans folks through the art of music. Dustin Jensen is a Twin Cities native producer and multi-instrumentalist. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Dustin has performed and recorded in Nashville, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, the United Kingdom, and Southwest Asia.
