HANUMAN
Omnivine & Eugene's own SugarTop Buddery are proud to present the 14-year return of the legendary Acoustic Free Folk Funk band, HANUMAN. As an iconic Acoustic fixture within what became the NW "Jamband" scene, HANUMAN toured nationally from 1995 thru 2003, performing at some of the West Coast's most prominent Live Music Festivals, sharing stages with the likes of String Cheese Incident, Jimmy Cliff, Jethro Tull, The Mickey Hart Band, Dan Bern, and The Grand Mothers (of Invention), to name a few From African Highlife, to Bluegrass, to Driving Latin or Funk Grooves, HANUMAN's diverse musical repertoire appeals to those with a wide range of musical tastes, and a desire to dance. The original quartet featured Trillian Green members Ben Klein (flute), andJarrod Kaplan (percussion), as well as Paul Benoit (guitar), and Tige DeCoster (acoustic bass). Over their 8 year life-span, members changed and grew to include guitarist Scott Law (guitar & mandolin), and Damien Aiken (saxophone). The band's current line-up now features Paul Benoit on Guitar, Tige DeCoster on Acoustic Bass, Jarrod Kaplan on Percussion, and Damien Aiken on Saxophone. Since HANUMAN's official break-up in 2003, HANUMAN COLLECTIVE, featuring Drummer/Percussionist Will Dowd, released 1 self-titled CD. Guitarist Scott Law launched his solo career performing as The Scott Law Band, before moving on to perform with keyboardist Melvin Seals, The Del McCoury Band, and with Grateful Dead bassist, Phil Lesh. Guitarist Paul Benoit launched his own Americana/Roots Rock band, focused on songwriting, and released 4 CDs. Tige DeCoster toured Russia with Guitarist Omar Torrez & took up teaching & performing with a variety of acts in Seattle. Jarrod Kaplan went on tour & perform with NW Acoustic Acts DEVACHAN, TAARKA, and THE CA GUITAR TRIO, before accepting a 15-month stint with Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA (2007-2008). Soloist Damien Aiken performed & recorded with Scott & Paul as well as a host of other Seattle Icons, bought a house in Mexico & continues to shed on the beach with musicians from all over the planet. After a 14-year hiatus, inevitably seasoned by time, each band member nowbrings the fruit of their lives & musical experience to the band. This reunion will feature new interpretations of much of the band's original repertoire (spanning 5 recordings).
