The way in which a poem inhabits the space of the page guides the reading experience and is an integral part of the work's content. In this class, well discuss how words and space work together. To do this, we'll read and discuss selected poems and visual art works, and also compose through generative exercises individually and as a group. In addition to looking at free verse poems, we'll spend time discussing the haiku and the pantoum. Writers of other genres and visual artists are encouraged to attend!
