Return to the Past, Louisbourg 1749: A Historical Lantern Tour
It is the fall of 1749. King George's War is over. Years after its devastating loss, Louisbourg has been handed back to the French, and Captain Michel Degannes has recently returned from France to take up the post of Town Major. Join him for a two-hour lantern-lit tour of the Fortress of Louisbourg and experience the often turbulent history of the colony from the first-person perspective of one of its most senior military officers. Learn about his own life in Acadie, Louisbourg, and France, and help him negotiate the conflicted history of New France as he struggles with the question: Where do we go from here?
Designed for history buffs and entertainment seekers alike, this tour covers everything from global and economic histories, to the minute details of the sieges of Louisbourg, to amusing stories from the lives of Louisbourg residents, including Degannes himself.
With the help of a beautiful lantern-lit setting, and a colorful cast of townspeople, each with their own stories to tell, Captain Degannes will ensure you leave well entertained, and with a deeper understanding of the role Louisbourg played in the First Nations-Anglo-French conflict for North America.
