Event
Musical Celebration & Fundraiser for First Nations Land and Water Protectors!
You are invited to an afternoon of music, food, raffle items -- many ways to celebrate and raise funds for First Nations people in Canada who are fighting the trans-mountain Kinder Morgan pipelines. These are the pipelines carrying thick bitumen petroleum from the Alberta tar sands to the West coast of British Columbia. Why does Seattle care? Because we share the Salish Sea with indigenous people and settlers north and south - pipeline leaks off the coast of BC will further devastate all sea life in the Salish Sea. And because as human beings we share a common purpose to respect the rights of the First Nations people and bring balance back to the way we live on Mother Earth. Please plan to come, learn, celebrate, and support the indigenous-led resistance to the continued destruction of indigenous people, all people, and Mother Earth!
Musicians will include Paul Cheoketen Wagner, Jay Thomas, Sumi Tonooka, Marina Christopher Trio, Chava Mirel, and Queenside Castle! Refreshments, raffle items, Pull Together t-shirts, and original art will be available for purchase, raffle, or auction. Funds raised will be given to the Kwantlen Nation for the Healing Lodge they are building on the path of the pipeline. Like the tiny houses that Secwepemc is building on the path of the pipeline, the Kwantlen Healing Lodge will pose a barrier to the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion and lift up the people of the Kwantlen Nation. Please come, learn, and join with others in supporting the movement to stop the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion!
