Voices Found - Hamlet
Hamlet is one of Williams Shakespeares most famous tragedies, and for good reason. Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark has retuned home to Elsinore after the death of his father and discovers his mother has remarried his fathers brother, Claudius. The ghost of Hamlets father appears before Hamlet and tells him that Claudius murdered him and asks Hamlet to avenge his death: Hamlet swears to kill Claudius. In the light of day, Hamlet worries that the ghost may not have really been his father but a trap sent by the devil. In order to better observe Claudius and assess whether the ghosts claims are true, Hamlet decides to feign madness. Its a fool-proof plan.
The story we all know and love, now being told through the eyes of Voice Found Repertory, a company quickly becoming known for its passion for Shakespeare and making his stories relevant to today. Set in the here and now, we present this classic tale about people and their problems. Sons and their fathers, sister and brothers, Mothers, friends, millennials, academics, lovers, fighters, artists and dreamers this play is about us. Allow us to take Hamlet off its lofty pedestal and we invite you to blow away the dust. More than ever we could all use a reminder of how precious and fragile the frayed edges of an already unstable mind can be.
