On October 8th join us to celebrate what is great about America - a place where we can benefit from our differences and come together in our commonalities. Now, more than ever, we need to stand together, united in peace.
It is traditional on the Jewish holiday of Sukkot to invite guests into ones sukkah, a temporary hut used for holiday meals, entertaining, and even sleeping. In that tradition, Congregation Shomrei Emunah invites you to join us on October 8th for a special Sukkot dinner with Syria Supper Club (the keystone program of The United Tastes of America). The event and program support families of Syrian refugees recently settled in New Jersey.
A meal will be prepared by some of our new Syrian neighbors who will share their traditional cooking skills at a table full of traditional Syrian food.
Enjoy the food, conversation and making friends with neighbors old and new. From cultural exchange to just plain fun, look forward to a great evening.
These meals present an opportunity for people who have been defined for too long as victims to share knowledge and skills unique to them, for recipients to become partners in fund-raising efforts and set them on a path of greater independence and confidence in their new lives here in New Jersey.
Guests are encouraged to sign up to host a meal once they have enjoyed the experience of a special Syria Supper Club event.
All food will be vegetarian.
