When we observe children with intention and curiosity, we can see their learning with new eyes. Through documentation of children's play, their words, their interactions with others and their engagement with the environments around them, we can act as researchers, discovering and recording the depth of their ability to make meaning in their daily living.
Join us for an exploration of the process of pedagogical documentation: its forms, its value, its uses. During this Gathering, we will collaborate in experiences using documentation to understand children more deeply and share ideas of how to apply the skills of documentation in our daily teaching practices.
This event will also be the KICK-OFF for a new Network initiative: Documentation Lab.
The Network would like to offer educators an on-going way to share traces of their work with each other, get and give feedback about documentation and generate ideas for next steps in learning based on what children have been doing. We envision the Documentation Lab as a co-facilitated, collaborative working group where participants can bring work-in-progress, critically analyze it and learn from each other, at whatever stages we are in our practice.
Come and help us get the Documentation Lab going. Tell us what you'd like it to be! We'll do some brainstorming at the September 23 event.
