About this workshop: In this slow-paced, two-day workshop, you will create a portfolio-based website that is easy to customize and update. Artist and software professional Thomas Ruble will walk you through the creation of a website using Squarespace, covering the basics and making room for personalization as you follow along. You'll leave the workshop with your own artist website with pages for standard content, including a gallery, a newsfeed, and artist information. Websites will be mobile-friendly and will link to social media. You will select and purchase your own domains at the beginning of the class.
About the instructor: Thomas Ruble is a software engineer, musician, and interactive artist living in West Central, Spokane. He holds an M.A. in Philosophy and an M.S. in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. While at the university, he lectured in computer programming and served as a research assistant at the Phenomenology Research Center. He is an avid conference and hackathon participant, contributing talks and mentorship to regional events. Currently, he works as a team leader developing artificially intelligent web applications for various industries. He is enthusiastic about sharing the joy of code and enabling people to build things and solve problems with the help of computers.
