Naked. Nerdy. Feminist. This is Bechdel Test Burlesque. Since 2013, this super-powered spectacle has persisted in the Seattle burlesque landscape, a show that celebrates women in pop culture and reclaims our favorite characters from the clutches of the patriarchy. Presented in partnership with Planned Parenthood, thirteen performers join forces to resist the status quo and build a more feminist world through smart, sexy, nerdy burlesque.
Featuring Kitty Von Quim (Austin, TX), The Shanghai Pearl (Seattle, WA), Tas DeVille (Los Angeles, CA), and hosted by Sin de la Rosa and Sailor St. Claire, this years edition of Bechdel Test Burlesque proves that rebellions are built on hope with performances by Alexa Perplexa, Maggie McMuffin, Miss Elaine Yes, Mx. Pucks APlenty, Onyx Asili, Pinkie Fingers, Scarlett OHairdye, Tootsie Spangles, and Trixie Paprika, with assistance from Hunny Bee and Gigi Top.
Bechdel Test Burlesque has thrilled sold-out audiences in Seattle and Portland, and has been performed at the invitation of the University of Oregon, bringing intersectional thrill-joy feminism to 300 college students. Now, these nerds continue their mission to fuse burlesque and activism by raising money for Planned Parenthood with this years edition of Bechdel Test Burlesque.
Get your seat at the the geekiest, most feminist burlesque show in the history of burlesque shows for two nights and one matinee only with shows Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30 at at 4:30 and 7:30 pm at Re-Bar in Seattle (1114 Howell St). Tickets start at $20 for general admission. VIP tickets, which include a seat in a reserved section closest to the stage, are $35. 21+ only with ID.
