Polyphemus Solo Series: Rome
The Polyphemus Solo Series features performance and conversation in an elegant, intimate space, with fine food and drink. Programs are tightly focused on historical moments or ideas, and audiences will be invited to engage and discuss the ideas and music presented, or just eat and drink merrily. Seating is limited to 20.
This program is dedicated to early Roman keyboard music, from its deep roots in vocal forms to its evolution into the fantastic, virtuosic toccatas of the 17th century. A rare journey from elegant renaissance intabulations of Andrea Antico to the wild, almost post-modern inventions of Girolamo Frescobaldi, this program also features works of Ercole Pasquini and Michaelangelo Rossi.
