Ukulele Zen - Get Rhythm! (Salem OR)
Would you like to go deeper into your ukulele playing & learn tools to take your music to a new level? Join renowned ukulele performer, teacher, and endorsing Kala artist Stuart Fuchs on his 2017 West Coast Tour. Stuart, a regular performer/teacher on many of top ukulele festivals, will be presenting a very memorable experience of learning and ukulele fun! Stuart is an award winning multi-instrumentalist and has presented his fun, innovative and holistic workshops at ukulele festivals and retreat centers internationally.
You'll learn great songs, style specific rhythms & strums, and cool melodic licks that create a uke band in the class. Stuart will offer many powerful practice methods that will truly make playing easier! As both a classically trained and improvising musician, Stu will answer many nagging questions about playing and share his arrangements of fun and accessible songs in a variety of styles.
You'll explore the genre specific stylistic nuances that will help to create the true sounds of reggae, jazz, blues, etc in your ukulele playing. Stuart will also share many new & exciting ukulele tricks that will be sure to spice up your playing including triplet strums, chucking, and other musical effects.
When practiced regularly, his playful and holistic method of "Ukulele Zen" will improve your body awareness, and enable you to experience deep relaxation and a sense of effortlessness while playing your ukulele. Stu unpacks a systematic approach to making learning music easier and more fun with easy practices from Yoga, Mindfulness, and Qigong. You'll be able to play long, feel better in your body and youll become "One with the Strum"!
This workshop is open to beginners through advanced students (some basic experience playing ukulele is recommended). There will be plenty of great takeaways for your home practice, new friends made, and much joy to be had learning together in community!!

About Stu:
Stuart Fuchs has been introducing people to their natural musician for nearly two decades. Stuart is a lifelong musician and a multi instrumentalist with deep roots in classical guitar. He performs Django Reinhardts gypsy jazz, Brazilian styles, original songs and his own virtuosic ukulele stylings. Stuart has facilitated his humanistic workshops in music and creative improvisation for music schools and universities, Fortune 500 CEOs and was awarded an NEA grant for his healing music work as a full time artist-in-residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute for eight years years. Stuart (aka Stukulele) presents his workshops at many major ukulele festivals worldwide and is the creator of Ukulele Zen, a holistic approach to the ukulele which blends yoga, mindfulness and qigong with fun and cutting edge musical instruction. Stuart an endorsing artist with Kala ukuleles, Daddario Planet Waves, and plays his meditative guitar worldwide with renowned scared chant artist Snatam Kaur.
