Often underappreciated, the white wines of Austria are in fact some of the worlds greatest wines. Importer Terry Theise discovered this over twenty years ago and began importing the vastly underrepresented wines from top growers in Austria. At our next wine dinner, we will explore the beauty and nuances of Austrias two noble white grapes, Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. We will focus specifically on wines from the 2015 vintage from renowned producers in the Terry Theise portfolio, such as Nikolaihof, Bründlmayer and Schloss Gobelburg. As Theise noted, the 2015 vintage was an amazingly even, substantive and charming vintage. The dinner will be led by Spruce sommelier Jaime Pinedo, who will have just returned from visiting all of these wonderful estates, and will have copious amounts of knowledge to impart to you. The wines will be paired with an Austrian-inspired menu crafted by Chefs Mark Sullivan and Steven Pelas.
