This year's Fall meeting is hosted by the Shenandoah Valley Beekeepers Association and will be held at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, VA
The following presentations will be offered:
Erin MacGregor-Forbes, Chairman of the Eastern Apicultural Society will present "No-graft Queen Rearing" for those wishing to explore more sustainable beekeeping practices and "Organizing a Second Year Bee School" to share methods and curriculum for arranging club-level education beyond the beginner level.
Mike Embrey, University of Maryland (retired) will present "Small Hive Beetles, Then and Now" gleaned from his years of experience as the Program Manager for the Eastern Shore Apiculture Program in Maryland.
Dr. James Wilson, Virginia Cooperative Extension's Extension Apiculturist, will share his doctoral research "Integrating Pest Management in Virginia Cucurbit Production: An Example for Virginia Beekeepers" demonstrating practical methods for mitigating pesticide exposure to honey bee colonies.
An optional lunch consisting of a hot pork barbecue sandwich, coleslaw, macaroni salad, baked beans, potato chips & a drink is offered by the Shenandoah Valley Beekeepers Association for a nominal fee.
Registration through this site is available to current VSBA members and expired/non-members. Payment is by credit card. Prices are the same as for mail-in-registrations, with a discount for current members. Online registration is open through October 23, 2017 with an discount for early registrations through October 9,2017.
On Saturday, November 4th, Walk In Registration (cash or check only) will open at 8 AM with the meeting beginning at 9 AM. Presentations and vendors continue until 5:15 PM.
