On the Road Tour - Experience Peace, Harmony and Tranquility
In our search for peace, harmony and tranquility we will visit three nearby areas. Our first stop will be the Portland Japanese Garden. If you have not been there recently you will be pleased with the new Cultural Village addition to the 12 acre gardens. Since we will arrive early, there may also be time to briefly visit the rose garden.
A private showing of the Helene Schoen garden in the Oriental style will help to encourage us in our quest for peace and tranquility. As well as being very involved with the Rose Society she dabbled in the art of Bonsai. Huge Ginkos, Magnolias and Japanese Maples still grace her back garden. Her original garden can be seen on the Smithsonian website.
At The Hidden Garden nursery we can indulge ourselves admiring the large selection of Japanese Maples for sale in addition to other interesting plants.
Wear sturdy shoes and be aware that some areas are difficult for walking.
