Chuck Prophet in Santa Fe
Chuck Prophet writes and sings about heartbreak and everyman heroism, drenched in twisted lines of rude Telecaster or beautiful acoustic strumming. Prophets first endeavor away from his sleepy hometown of Whittier, California was straight to the absurdity that is San Francisco. He joined the seminal cosmic country rock band Green On Red and spent his teenage years and as many albums playing and touring with this gang of interloping Arizonans with no small impact on L.A.'s Paisley Underground. During an eight-year run with Green on Red, he cut his first major label session with legendary Memphis producer Jim Dickinson, burned through a couple of big record deals, and ventured a debut solo effort, followed by years of great solo releases and tours that evolved Prophet into a prolific rock 'n' roll classicist.
Prophet has written and/or played with Warren Zevon, Jonathan Richman, Cake, Bob Neuwirth, Alejandro Escovedo, Lucinda Williams and many others. His tunes have been covered by the likes of Solomon Burke and Heart. TV appearances include Austin City Limits, Letterman and Carson Daly and his music has been featured in film and television, including HBOs True Blood. Prophets latest disc is Bobby Fuller Died For Your Sins, a California noir inspired by the mysterious death of rocker Bobby Fuller.
