Maeve Gilchrist & Keith Murphy

Doors: 7:30pm
Show: 8:00pm
Cover: $20

In this first time collaboration between two much sought after musicians and artistic directors, Maeve Gilchrist and Keith Murphy will bring their talents together in an unusually intimate and acoustic setting.

A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Maeve is a familiar voice to the New England folk scene as a virtuosic harpist and vocalist who seamlessly weaves together contemporary textures, harmonies and driving rhythms into her traditional Celtic harp playing casting a spell on audiences across the world. Best known for her explorative composition and collaborations, Maeve is looking forward to getting back to her traditional roots for this series of concerts.

Newfoundlands Keith Murphy is well known as a multi-instrumentalist of extraordinary ability and a beautiful singer with a rare collection of songs from both sides of the Atlantic.
Having met through WGBHs Brian O Donovan on his St Patricks day Celtic Sojourn, an annual celebration of Celtic music of which Keith is currently the musical director, these two musicians have long been searching for an opportunity to get together to play and sing the music that they love.
A unique amalgam of strings and vocal harmonies, knotted together to create a heartfelt and organic sound. This is sure to be a rare gem of a concert combining two musicians whose love of their respective traditions shines through every note they play.

Ah, Maeve`s riffs. A thing of spellbinding sensuality and depth. She manages to create spaciousness and an intimacy all at the same time, with her delicate and uncluttered chord voicings, and Bill Evans-like openness. - Ellen Cranitch, Lyrcic FM

A phenomenal harp player who can make her instrument ring with unparalleled purity. - Dirty Linen

I can only envy Keith Murphys wonderful singing  whether youre talking of feeling or tone, every note rings clear and true. - Dáithí Sproule
