Supported in part with funds received from the Pasadena Tournament of Roses® Foundation
Join Pasadena Museum of History volunteers for an informative lecture and to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the Museum. Each lecture will be preceded by a short presentation on the many ways you can share the vibrant history, culture, and arts of Pasadena by volunteering with students on educational field trips, becoming a docent in the 1906 Fenyes Mansion, assisting with lectures and events, or working in the Research Library & Archives.
Annamarie von Firley, the Owner/Designer of reVamp and creator of fine reproduction vintage clothing, will discuss how etiquette dictated the life of an upper class family in the Age of Elegance. Societal expectations during the fin de siècle choreographed how household members navigated their space and interacted with one another. The 1900s and 1910s were the period of peak etiquette before social mores began chipping away with the advent of the Great War. This exploration of etiquette during the turn of the last century will be a lens to define the roles and expectations of each member of the household of wealthy families and illustrate how their lifestyle is distinctly different from that of today.
