Dance Through the Decades: THE 1940s
This week is the third installment of our Dance Through the Decades series, this time spotlighting the 1940s. It's a turbulent time, the world is at war, but on the dance floor the jitterbug is king. Our Studio5 dance floor is open and the band is both large and in charge. Turn back the clock with us and come out to dance to the sounds of the 1940s with the In Full Swing Big Band, led by pianist Ron Surace! With 17 band members, if I tried to list the personnel I might break the internet, but let me at least tell you that the drummer is Dave Fodor if you have a child who came through the ETHS band program you will remember Dr. Fodor as the former concert band and jazz band director there ... and all-around great guy. It will be lots of fun to catch up with him and hear him play!
By the way, we honestly did not plan to have a big band play music from the 1940s on Veteran's Day ... but when someone drew my attention to that coincidence the other day, I realized that it was pure genius. You're welcome.
Cash bar, light snacks, free parking right outside! Doors open at 7:30.
