Walking tour of Woodward Houses in Chestnut Hill led by David Contosta
Developed during the first three decades of the twentieth century by Dr. George Woodward and his wife Gertrude Houston Woodward, these houses are part of a larger planned community begun by Gertrudes father, Henry Howard Houston. Featured stops include: Linden Court, Sulgrave Manor, the Half Moon Group, the Cotswold and English Villages, the quadruple houses, Winston Court, and the Benezet Street twins.
Beginning at the northwest corner of St. Martins Lane and Willow Grove Avenue, outside St. Martin-in-the Fields Church, and proceeding east along the Willow Grove and Springfield Avenue corridors, the tour will cover approximately one and a half miles. It is suggested that attendees park at the St. Martins Station. Free for CH Conservancy members $15 for non-members
