RAMBLIN' JACK ELLIOTT plus Vikki Lee & Russ "The Muleskinner" Whitehead
"Ramblin' Jack has been a towering influence on a generation of folk and rock musicians, most notably Bob Dylan" -The Boston Globe One of the last direct links to the great folk traditions of this country, Jack is one of the legendary foundations of American folk music. He travelled with Woody Guthrie in the 1950s "from the redwood forests to the gulfstream waters" learning the blues along the way from Leadbelly, Mississippi John Hurt, the Reverend Gary Davis, Big Bill Broonzy and Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry, so it's fitting that his second recent Grammy award was in the Traditional Blues category. He received the National Medal of Arts award and was honored with a special dinner at the White House. Recently the award-winning film "The Ballad of Ramblin' Jack" introduced a new generation to his timesless music and yarns. We are honored to have this national treasure start our concert year. Knocking out audiences all over the Bay Area, songbird Vikki Lee will open the show with Russ Whitehead. Please note that Jack will perform starting at 9:15PM (well after the Niner's game is over!)
