Emmanuelle Parrenin, Pefkin, Orion's Belt
Emmanuelle Parrenin is a French folk singer who was active in the late 1960s and 1970s. Acclaimed and respected for her accomplished blending of traditional, ethereal folk styles with experimental, avant garde percussion pieces, which often draws comparisons with the likes of Brigitte Fontaine, and to a lesser extent Vashti Bunyan and Linda Perhacs.
Pefkin is Gayle Brogan, a key figure in the experimental music scene since the mid nineties. She first gained recognition as one half of the remarkable duo Electroscope, mixing psychedelic pop, lofi, drones and folk. When Electroscope went on hiatus in 2000, Gayle picked up the name Pefkin, and continued on the same path, the music shifting towards freeform folk and longer drone pieces.
Orion's Belt is the new band from Lavina Blackwall of Trembling Bells. An electric six piece guitar band that play dreamy psyche with covers of Steeleye Span and Judy Collins.
