"The Crooked House- A Dinner Theatre Murder Mystery" presented by The Arts at Angeloria's, LLC
You'll find laughs galore in this murder mystery farce that spoofs the private eye shows of the past. Its the story of Orchid Hill Manor nicknamed Crooked House, a seedy boarding house/hotel where the guests pay outrageous rent for shoddy service. Arriving on the scene is that famous, inept, yet very funny Hoboken detective, Hercules Porridge, who goes by Junior. A corpse has been discovered in the sitting room, and a beautiful secretary is done in by deadly orchid juice. Who could have done such dastardly deeds? The guest list includes a mystery writer, Anguish Crispie, an eccentric young man who dresses like a jungle explorer, and a strange actress who always dresses in black. Or maybe its Colonel Chutney, a crazy neighbor, who thinks hes in India in 1880. There's also Jeeves, the butler, who has a wandering mind. Thrills and chills collide with sidesplitting laughter as the case is surprisingly solved by Detective Porridge.
Guests will be seated in the vintage theatre for four performed scenes interspersed with a roaming four course tapas-style meal that allows for guests to circulate throughout the first floor, gardens, and grounds to interact with the actors and search for clues as they try to figure out whodunnit!
The farm to table meal prepared on site has been custom designed to fit the show by Newbrook Kitchen and Artisan Market of Westport, Connecticut. Owners Cindy + Danielle Hartog, a dynamic mother and daughter professionally trained chef team, found a love for Paleo cooking and baking and now serve their clients gourmet Paleo dishes in a casual and modern setting. Newbrook uses the finest quality ingredients, that are free from gluten, milk, and soy, but never free from taste. Doors will open at 6:00 pm at which time guests will select their seats in the theatre and then begin exploring the manor while enjoying the first course of Cindy's and Danielle's custom designed Orchid Hill Manor Menu and interacting with several performers found throughout the manor. The evening will progress with performed scenes on stage followed by intermissions for each course with a chance to interact with actors and with other guests to try to figure out who committed the dastardly deeds. A fabulous way to spend a Friday the 13th weekend in October!
