Wild Honey-Derrick Anderson and All-Star Band With Rob Bonfiglio For The Autism Think Tank
It's going to be an amazing afternoon of music with Wild Honey's favorite people in the universe to benefit the Autism Think Tank!   Derrick Anderson with his all-star band (Bangles Vicki & Debbi Peterson and Kim Shattuck from the Muffs) and Special Guest Rob Bonfiglio will take the stage for an urgent cause at intimate Wild Honey Backyard Amphitheater.

For the past nine years, Derrick Anderson has been playing bass with the Bangles. Now, hes taking a busmans holiday, recruiting Debbi and Vicki Peterson from that group, along with Kim Shattuck of the Muffs, on a song of his own called When I Was Your Man. Diffuser is proud to be premiering the songs video, which can be streamed here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=M_kFaVRKIOc

Not only did Debbi, Vicki, Kim and I have a blast recording the tune in the studio, Anderson, who has a 20-year history in the Los Angeles power pop scene, tells us, doing the video was a hoot as well, and Id say it shows! Ive known Dan Matovina (director) for years as an engineer/producer and he pitched me on the video idea. We put our heads together and we couldnt ask for a better result! Dan brought in David Williams to shoot and edit and we got John Calacci (Bangles manager) and Joe Stella (Bangles sound man) involved in the production, so it turned out to be a nice family affair. We did the shoot in under four hours so it was a bit down & dirty, but it all came together quite nicely indeed.

Full of jangly guitars, wordless background vocals and handclaps, the summer-y When I Was Your Man, appears on Andersons solo debut, A World of My Own, which was released back in April. In addition to the two Bangles and Shattuck, it boasts guest appearances from a whos-who of power pop stars. Send Me Down A Sign and Waiting For You feature the Smithereens, Matthew Sweet plays guitar on Happiness and theres a reunion of the Andersons!, the power-pop supergroup he fronted in the late-90s-to-early-00s. The album, which has a bonus track of the Beatles Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) was produced by Ed Stasium, known for his work with the Ramones, the Smithereens, Talking Heads and Living Colour.

I have to say, its a beautiful thing to have such talented friends orbiting in my musical universe that I could call on once I started making this album, Anderson said. It was a long time coming, waiting for folks to turn in their homework as it were, but I couldnt be more pleased with the results. Vicki Peterson listened to the record in its entirety and called it timeless which was such a fantastic compliment, especially coming from her!

Derrick Anderson, a native of Toledo, Ohio, currently holds down the bass slot in The Bangles. His critically acclaimed premiere solo album A World Of My Own  released by Omnivore Recordings this spring has quickly found its way into the hearts, minds and top album lists of listeners worldwide.

Anderson has toured and recorded with the Kinks Dave Davies, Translators Steve Barton, and Susanna Hoffs, along with doing the occasional gig with The Smithereens, Matthew Sweet, Tommy Keene and The Cowsills. Derricks memorably melodic bass playing and songwriting are showcased on two critically acclaimed releases by his former band The Andersons!. His bass work can also be heard on two posthumously released Pete Ham (Badfinger) releases,7 Park Avenue and Golders Green.
