Corey Harris
Corey Harris has earned substantial critical acclaim as one of the few contemporary bluesmen able to channel the raw, direct emotion of acoustic Delta blues without coming off as an authenticity-obsessed historian. Although well-versed in the early history of blues guitar, hes no well-mannered preservationist, mixing a considerable variety of influences from New Orleans to the Caribbean to Africa into his richly expressive music. Since first coming on the scene in the mid-1990's, Corey has worked with such artists as BB King, Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy, R.L.Burnside, Ali Farka Toure, Dave Matthews Band, Tracy Chapman, Olu Dara and many others. He was a featured artist and narrator of Martin Scorcese's 2003 blues evolution documentary, "Feel Like Going Home", and in 2007, was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship "Genius Award".
This show will take place Common Fence Music's Portsmouth Mainstage, an intimate 200 seat listening room located at Common Fence Point Hall, 933 Anthony Road, Portsmouth, RI. Doors open at 7pm, the show begins at 8pm. All Portsmouth shows are BYOB & picnic.
