Intersections of Race and Sexuality: A Workshop for Professionals
How do we create space for different people to find professional support and feedback around creating connectivity, pleasure and sexual expression in a culturally sensitive and informed way? Supporting sexual expression and autonomy within the black community presents unique challenges, particularly given the too easily forgotten history of stigma and oppression. A sex therapist, sexologist, educator, body worker, or other professional must consider the interplay of race and sexual orientation, types of expression, and sexual health in order to create optimal outcomes. This workshop offers knowledge and skills to help identify considerations specific to the sexual health of the black american community. Ruby Bouie Johnson LCSW LCDC, a black sex therapist based in Plano, Texas, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as an advocate and practitioner within this community.
