Beginning the last week of August 2017 (8/29, 8/31).
In this class, students will learn devising, a technique used to create plays not from a script, but from the minds of the cast of the show. The class begins with an exploration of the fundamentals of performance and storytelling. Students will then use what they have learned to create a series of scenes centered around a theme, which the class will pick. The class will edit these scenes into a short work of theatre which will then be rigorously rehearsed, as the class culminates in a performance of the students original work. Through the process of devising a show, students will gain the skills of communication, critical thinking, risk-taking, and teamwork, all of which are important to any actor and human being.
