Rochester Oratorio Society presents FREDERICK DOUGLASS AT 200
Frederick Douglass and his family made Rochester their home for more than 25 years. Celebrate his enduring wisdom and legacy to our city and nation through this Bicentennial observance, featuring Douglass re-enactor, Dr. David Anderson, and the full Oratorio Society chorus and African percussion ensemble in the Emancipation Oratorio, by nationally-renowned composer, Glenn McClure. Soprano KEARSTIN PIPER BROWN stars in this compelling setting of texts by Douglass and other Abolitionist leaders and contemporary slave narratives, commissioned and premiered by the ROS in 2012. William Warfield Scholarship Fund recipient, baritone JONATHAN RHODES, makes his ROS debut as Douglass. This project is sponsored by a Humanities New York Action Grant.
