Jeff Greenwald, "Strange Travel Suggestions"
The Marsh Berkeley presents Jeff Greenwald's "Strange Travel Suggestions."
"STRANGE TRAVEL SUGGESTIONS," Kurt Vonnegut Jr. once wrote, "are dancing lessons from God." Indeed, it's those sudden inspirations and unpredictable encounters that make world travel so wild and illuminating. Oakland-based writer Jeff Greenwald -- best known for his critically acclaimed travel books, including Shopping for Buddhas and The Size of the World -- brings the hand of destiny into his newest work: an improvised monologue inspired by the vagaries of wanderlust. Audience members step onto the stage, and spin a huge, colorful Wheel of Fortune. Round and 'round it spins, and where it stops, our story begins....
"The last time Jeff Greenwald's roulette wheel of a one-man show had a run at The Marsh, I went and laughed my head off. The Marsh is a small place, so Greenwald obligingly handed my head back to me."
- Jon Carroll, San Francisco Chronicle
