The Weather Machine (Solo Set) + Sheers

Slater Smith is a songwriter living in Portland, OR, and the lead singer for the band The Weather Machine. Smith cut his musical teeth growing up around his hometown town folk festival in Sisters, OR, but didnt properly pursue a music career until he released his first demo in 2011 under the pseudonym Mr. Peltons Weather Machine.
Three full-length albums later, Smith and The Weather Machine have become mainstays of Oregons folk and indie rock communities. He has worked closely with Oregons parks systems to promote both independent music and outdoor appreciation efforts. His latest record was commissioned by Oregon State Parks, and tells the story of the Oregon Coast in Smiths own dreamy, heart-on-his-sleeve, and sometimes ironic musical and lyrical stylings. The album celebrates the 50th anniversary of landmark environmental legislation protecting Oregons beaches, and is the first record released under his own name in collaboration with the band as Slater Smith & The Weather Machine. The album will be released to the public this fall.
Melodicism and classical stylings converge in the brooding soundscapes of Portland-based trio Sheers. Frontwoman Lily Breshears, a classical harpist, and pianist combines catchy choruses and honest lyrics with tension-laden composition, creating a distinct sound closest to trip-hop. Immediate gratification is not to be expected, as Breshears strives for catharsis being well deserved. Jazz drummer Daniel Rossi provides foundational grooves for Sheers with touches of off-kilter accents, and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Stern adds heavy bass and atmospheric textures.
