The Rafiki Village Project is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit founded by David Newman in 2016. Its mission is to improve health, increase literacy, and promote economic prosperity in Tanzanian villages. The Rafiki Village Project is currently working in the village of Gijega , a rural community of subsistence farmers. Poverty, malnutrition, illiteracy, lack of access to clean water, and inadequate health care are among the challenges confronting the villagers. In its first year, the Rafiki Village Project installed a pipeline connecting the village to the public water supply, renovated primary school classrooms, installed water storage tanks, constructed modern toilet facilities at the local primary school, and helped the local medical clinic purchase needed medications and supplies. Future projects include renovating the remaining classrooms, constructing housing for teachers and medical staff, building a kitchen at the primary school to provide nutritional support to the students, and establishing scholarship programs for teachers and students.
We promise you a fantastic evening. Please come and support the Rafiki Village Project. Please see our website: rafikivp.org and our Facebook Page for more information and updates.
