Join us before dinner for a very special conference! Did you know there's a resurgence in Western Washington of locally-grown, specialty grain, and a slew of related craft business popping up in its wake, like millers, brewers, distillers, and bakers, who are creating new and vibrant markets for these crops? Explore the possibilities of grain production and grain-based craft right here in Kitsap County.
For our dinner keynote, learn about the WSU Bread Lab, a unique and very special resource making an impact here and around the globe. right here in Western Washington.
With Dr. Steve Jones, Director, WSU Bread Lab; Dr. Laura Lewis, Director, WSU Jefferson County Extension, Matt Tinder, specialty baker and owner of Saboteur Bakery, Bremerton, local grain farmer, to be announced.
Dr. Stephen S. Jones is Director of the WSU Bread Lab in Skagit County. The Bread Lab is a combination think tank and baking laboratory where scientists, bakers, chefs, farmers, maltsters, brewers, distillers and millers experiment with improved flavor, nutrition and functionality of regional and obscure wheats, barley, other small grains and beans.

Kitsap Grown Harvest Dinner: 5-8 pm, Bremer Student Center, including reception, awards, keynote talk "Going with the Grain - Innovation and Tradition" with Dr. Steve Jones, silent auction, and the best dinner of the year!
The Kitsap Grown Harvest Dinner brings a bounty of locally-grown food in a showcased community dining experience prepared by top-line, local chefs.
Led by Chef Chris Plemmons (Olympic College Culinary Program, Two Snooty Chefs) the presentation that awaits our locally farmed produce and livestock is certain to be a culinary delight.
Parking: Please park in the east parking lot, and enter the Bremer Student Center at the Broadway entrance. Look for signs! ___________________________________________________________
Volunteer! Be part of the Kitsap Farm-to-Table event of the year, Sunday, September 24, 2017
We need your help to create a memorable farm-to-table community feast made with Kitsap grown goods prepared by local chefs who support KCAAs mission (kitsapag.org). We need dining room attendants, decorators, education ambassadors, and more.
Volunteers needed all day for setup and during event. Dinner starts at 5pm.
