The Tokyo Night Sky Is Always The Densest Shade of Blue
West Coast Premiere
2017 | 108 min | with English Subtitles | Directed by Yuya Ishii Co-presented by Center for Asian American Media
Written and directed by Yuya Ishii (Sawako Decides, The Great Passage, Our Family, The Vancouver Asahi), the film that premiered at Berlin Film Festival this year was inspired by poetry written by Japans rising poet Tahi Saihate. In a subtle accumulation of details, the film follows two young misfits in Tokyo, Mika (Shizuka Ishibashi) and Shinji (Sosuke Ikematsu), from their first encounter and as they develop trust with one another.
