Mozart's Requiem and Marriage of Figaro, at the Lyric Theatre
Vignettes of the world famous Requiem Mass in D Minor, composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Vienna in 1791 and later completed in 1792. Vocal parts will be sung by opera singers and the Rochester Oratorio Society and dramatized in dance by the New York State Ballet dancers. Music will be performed by a professional live orchestra under the direction of Jared Chase, conductor.
The Marriage of Figaro was composed by Mozart in 1786 and is one of Mozart's best known and beloved operas. It is based on a stage comedy and tells how Figaro and Susanna succeed in getting married and foiling the efforts of their philandering employer Count Almaviva. Vocal parts of these vignettes will by sung by the opera singers and music will be performed by a live orchestra under the direction of Jared Chase, conductor.
The beautiful and historic Lyric Theatre at 440 East Ave. was built in 1913 and is one of Rochester's most beautiful interiors.
