DEAD RIDER A damned chimera, reconflecting man in pieces audio-verite dance and blues, pop and rock varieties. Not created but lived, with parts of life on the run reused.
"The unctuous lounge-lizard croon that marks the singing of Dead Riders Todd Rittmann has started to fray on the groups fantastic new album, Crew Licks (Drag City). Its production serves to highlight its queasy hard-rock guitar solos that curdle within the sultry grooves of a tune like The Floating Daggerwhich sounds like the remnants of an alley brawl between old-school Steely Dan and the Rolling Stones. Few bands in recent memory have so effectively repurposed conventions of both classic rock and radio-friendly dance-rock into sounds that could induce nausea or seem refined." - Chicago Reader

NEGATIVWOBBLYLAND is a satellite project of the notorious art collective Negativland. The cut-and-paste media collage of their best-known work is here abandoned to explore the unpredictable anomalies generated by the instrument known as the Booper. Boopers, chaotic analog feedback devices created from salvaged radio and amplifier parts, generate sounds with lives of their own, less objects to be played than fellow collaborators. Once linked and mixed, they suggest a chorus of electronic voices all singing through the same throat, or perhaps a cassette dub of the legendary jam session between David Tudor and Cluster recorded at Forst in 1974 -- coincidentally the same year The Weatherman created the first Booper for his Introduction to Electronic Music class at Diablo Valley College. Sampling no longer exists; there is only recycling.
